Mary Sue (Farson) Kapp Obituary (1935

Mary Sue (Farson) Kapp passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, August 17, 2025 in La Verkin, Utah at the age of 90 in the loving care of her children. We appreciate the many prayers offered on her behalf as she worked to overcome recent health challenges. Sue was born on Jan. 22, 1935 in Bedford, Indiana to Vern Henry and Laurel Francis (Myers) Farson, the first of four children. At age 18 Sue was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she remained active, serving in various callings throughout her life. Sue had an incredible desire to follow the Savior, to help and serve others which she did every day of her life. She was always happy and you couldn’t be in her presence without feeling uplifted. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her oldest daughter Kathy (Kapp) Blacker, her mother and father, her sister Laurel Kay Bumgarner and brother Jon Edgar Farson, two grand-daughters and one great grand-daughter. She is survived by her sister, Berta Lavern (Patty) Hampton, five children Kenny (Becky) Kapp, Shari (David) Olsen, Jeanette (Kyle) Jeppesen, Jerry Kapp, Shanna McNeely, son-in-law Rick (Michelle) Blacker, 25 grand-children, 77 great grand-children and 33 great-great-grandchildren (our best estimate - if you were ever part of her family, you will always be part of her family). Though her name and memories may fade with the passing of time, the depth of Sue’s unwavering testimony and her example of compassionate service to others will forever burn brightly in our hearts and is a testament to the depth of her soul and the richness of her legacy. Her life sketch, photos and many memories can be found on FamilySearch.org In lieu of flowers the best way to honor her memory is to go out of your way to do something nice for someone in need in Sue’s name. One of her favorite hymns was, “Have I Done Any Good? (in the world today)”.
