Mathew Mansfield

–

SAINT GEORGE, UT

Mathew Mansfield passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with his family nearby. He was born September 10, 1945, in Provo, Utah, to Ephraim Mansfield and June “Mansfield” Loveridge. He built a life filled with family, hard work, good friends, plenty of laughter, and, preferably, a very clean car. On June 14, 1963, Mathew married the love of his life and best friend, Dana Edwards, in Provo, Utah. Together they built a beautiful life and family, sharing years of love, adventures, laughter, and memories. Mathew always took great pride in taking care of Dana, and losing the love of his life left an empty place that could never quite be filled. Mathew was the proud father of Todd Mathew (Randzi) Mansfield, Terry Mansfield, and Trudy Jorgensen. His family continued to grow to include eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandbaby. Nothing made him happier than having his family around, especially when there was a BBQ involved. He grew up with two brothers, Jack (Polly) Mansfield and Gene (Kathie) Mansfield, and his sister, Claudette (Ron) Robbins. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dana, and his brother, Gene. Mathew began his working years at Bradshaw Auto Parts in Tooele and later worked for Frank Edwards for an impressive 40 years as a manager and territory salesman. He took pride in his work, but the friendships he made along the way meant just as much to him. He genuinely enjoyed the people he worked with and the many friendships that came from those years. When Mathew wasn’t working, there was a good chance he was doing something he loved. He enjoyed fishing at Strawberry Reservoir, hunting, golfing, being outdoors, going to car shows, shopping, and settling in for a good Western, especially if John Wayne was involved. He also appreciated some of life’s finer things like cheeseburgers, onion rings, chocolate shakes, a good Sunday breakfast, a shiny clean car, and his nightly ice cream fix. Going to bed without ice cream simply wasn’t part of the routine. And then there were his bubbles. A good soak in a bubble bath was Mathew’s version of a “Calgon moment,” and he wasn’t shy about enjoying it. Sometimes a man just needs his bubbles. Mathew took pride in looking good. Blue was his color, leather coats were always a good choice, and his car had better shine. His kids apparently inherited that last trait, so his legacy lives on every time one of them decides a perfectly acceptable car is somehow still not clean enough. He loved a good joke and usually had one ready to tell. He loved to laugh just as much as he loved making everyone else laugh. But beneath all the jokes was a man you could count on. Mathew was someone you could always call, no matter what. If you needed help, advice, a laugh, or simply someone to be there, he was there. More than anything, Mathew will be remembered for the way he showed up for the people in his life. He was dependable, hardworking, funny, and always just a phone call away. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that his family and friends will carry with them. As difficult as it is to say goodbye, there is comfort in imagining what may have been waiting for Mathew at the end of his journey. We can only hope that somewhere beyond this life, he and Dana had the most magical of reunions. And knowing Mathew, we’d like to think there was a spotless car waiting nearby, a John Wayne Western ready to play, ice cream in the freezer, and maybe even a bubble bath waiting for later. A celebration of Mathew’s life will be held Saturday, November 7, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. at the Mansfield home, 475 North 2240 West Circle, St. George, Utah 84770. Family and friends are invited to come together, share memories, tell a few good stories, laugh at the jokes Mathew would have appreciated, and celebrate a man who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
