Nephi Mardell Nielsen

Ivins, UT – Nephi Mardell Nielsen, age 93, passed away on June 2, 2021. He was born May 6, 1928, in Mink Creek, Idaho to Nephi & Lillian Ames Nielsen. He was married to Joan Moser (deceased), then married Mary Lamb (deceased) and now survived by his wife Joan Silver. He went on a mission to Denmark. Served in the Air Force during the Korean War in Intelligence. For over 5 years he served as a Bishop in Fresno, California. Further church service was rendered on a second mission with his wife Mary in Hiroshima, Japan. His occupation was a bank executive. Mardell was involved in community service clubs in various organizations and loved to help people. He loved camping, water skiing, had a love for music and would sing solo’s with a beautiful tenor voice. He was able to fix anything and a good mechanic. He was preceded in death by: his parents; Sister Myrna Condie; granddaughter Heather and two infant grandchildren. Survived by children Kristine, Scott, Cindy, Brian, Brad and Brent and their spouses. Also survived by siblings Kenneth Nielsen and Jerry Hendricks. Further survived by a great posterity of 32 grandchildren and 93 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dixie Home Rehab and Hospice and Nurses Becky, Monique and Sarah. Doctor Jill Stevens, Pamela Jensen, Dr. Joseph H. Wooley, and other wonderful staff members. Thanks also to friends and family who assisted in his care, as well as loving church members and neighbors. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11:00a.m., at the Red Cliffs 8th Ward LDS chapel, 625 East Center Street, Ivins, UT. A viewing well held from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the service. Military Honors will follow the service. Interment will be Monday June 7, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Whitney Cemetery, Whitney, Idaho.
