Norma Nelson Andrus Fielding

Norma Nelson Andrus Fielding, age 78, of St. George, UT, passed away surrounded by family on August 5, 2017, at her home in St. George, Utah. Norma was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on February 14, 1939, to goodly parents, Douglas Milo Andrus and Veatrice Mildred Nelson. She was the oldest of 6 children and was raised in Idaho Falls. As the oldest child, she was a great support to her parents and loved and appreciated the time she spent learning to work hard. This skill served her well throughout her life. Norma married Don Ray Fielding in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 21, 1960. They lived many different places, including Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Arizona, and developed many close friendships, which they cherished throughout their lives. Norma had a gift of loving everyone she met and could always be found cheerfully serving others, whether she knew them or not. Don and Norma are the parents of 10 children, with 43 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She loved her family deeply. Spending time with them brought her great joy, and she was always concerned for their welfare and happiness. She also loved music and was an accomplished pianist, organist, and singer, and taught many piano students throughout the years. Norma was a woman of great faith. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she always cherished her membership in the church. She held many church callings in which she faithfully served and found much peace and joy in living the Gospel. She loved attending and working in the LDS temple and looked forward to the time she spent there. Fulfilling a life-long dream, Don and Norma served a full-time LDS mission together in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission from 2008-09. Norma is survived by: her husband, Don; her children, Debra Lefler (Landon) Shakespeare, Donna (Vaughn) Hopkins, David (Randi), Douglas (Trina), Daniel (Fatima), Darin (Brandi), Duane (Robin), Darwin (Lisa), Dale (Christie), and Darla (Ian) Rex; her siblings, Janet Orchard, Heber (Carolyn) Andrus, Stephen Andrus, and David Andrus; sister-in-law, Deanna Andrus; 43 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Douglas Andrus; brother-in-law, Gary Orchard; and son-in-law, David Lefler. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 12:00 Noon at the LDS chapel located at 550 E. 700 S., St. George, UT. A viewing will be held Friday evening, August 11, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the chapel and again on Saturday, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
