Raymond Daniel Brinkerhoff

Virgin, Utah: Raymond Daniel Brinkerhoff, was born of goodly parents, Arnold Brinkerhoff, and Amy Leah Matthews 20 May 1941. He grew up in Virgin, his whole life, and on January 28, 1960, he entered the United States Air Force. He went to Lackland Air Force Base for his basic training and in July of 1961 he and his sweetheart married. In July of 1962, they welcomed into their family Jody Hugh. When Jody Hugh was one month old, in August of 1962, he spent his time in Thule, Greenland, and returned in August of 1963 to Virgin, before his reassignment and move to San Antonio, Texas, he and his sweetheart Lenny Wilcox were sealed in the St. George Temple. In October of 1963, he and Lenny, and Jody went to Kelly Air Force Base where their second son Kenneth was born. After 4 years, they accepted a transfer to Eielson A.F.B, Alaska, where in the second year their third son Arlen Daniel was born at Fort Wainwright/Fairbanks, Alaska. After spending 2 and a half years in Alaska, they were assigned to Whiteman A.F.B. in Missouri, two years later, he was assigned to go to Viet Nam. After 4 months there and seeing through the closing of the supply department at Da Nang, he, was assigned to Kunsan, Korea. He finished out his year in December of 1973, and the family then went to McConnell A.F.B, Kansas. In June of 1974, the family left to go to Elmendorf A.F.B., Alaska. In 1975, they welcomed another son, Erin Michel. After 3 years, Lenny and their boys settled in Virgin, Utah again to live in their home where they prepared for his retirement. He then went to Edwards A.F.B. where in January of 1980 he retired and returned to Utah to be with his family. After working at Lyman Auto Parts, he found out that an opening was available at the National Park in Zion. He applied and started working there around 1982. After spending a few years in Zion, he applied for a transfer and went to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where he spent about 7 years. He then applied for a transfer to Death Valley Park and got that assignment. He spent the next 13 years there and retired after spending 20 years in the National Park Service. Raymond was a kind, gentle man, a good man, who was a good example to his family. He was non-judgmental and very seldom raised his voice. He had a quiet sense of humor that was appreciated by all. When he left the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, they actually printed out some of his “Binkyisms”. He is survived by his wife, Lenny, Jody Hugh (Heather), Kenneth, Arlen Daniel, (Brandi), Erin Michel (Karin), and grandchildren, Jody Hugh (Sarah), Heidi Anne Terpstra, (Roger), Jamie Lynn Halladay (John), James, Devro Brinkerhoff, Ashley Spendlove (Cameron), Megan, Austin Ray, (Hannah), Zachary Glen Brinkerhoff, Joshua Neth Brinkerhoff, Bradley Boyd Brinkerhoff Bradford, (Allison) Tyler Daniel Baker Brinkerhoff, RemBrandt Jacob Brinkerhoff, Ian Tucker (Jennie), Savannah Riedel, Regyan Tucker, Alexxis Tucker Deamer and 26 Great Grandchildren, A new granddaughter expected in May, 3 granddaughters preceded in death. Preceded in death by his sisters, Elaine, Geraldine, Evelyn, Helen, Colleen, Verla Dawn. His only surviving sister Mary Ann Bringhurst (LaMar), and many nieces, and nephews. The funeral will be held at the La Verkin Stake Center in La Verkin, Utah, October 29, 2022. The viewing will start at 10:00 AM- 11:45, family prayer at 11:45, and funeral services will be at 12:00-1:00 PM. After the services, interment will be at the Virgin Pioneer Memorial Cemetery. After which, a luncheon will be provided by the Virgin River Ward at the La Verkin Stake Center. Thanks to the American Legion for their military services.
