Robert James Verbic

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend returned to our Heavenly Father on March 25, 2025. He was born July 7, 1943, to Rudolph James Verbic and Anne Marie Begich Verbic in Chicago, Illinois. His brother Nick was born in 1952. Bob attended Catholic Grade Schools and Brother Rice High School, where he graduated at the top of his class. After starting his undergraduate work at the University of Illinois, he was both Illinois State Scholar and an Edmund James Scholar, while playing middle linebacker for the football team. He graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing in 1965. Bob also had an MBA from the University of Chicago where he graduated in 1968. He had a very successful career as a real estate executive. His sales and marketing expertise, were awarded by the Home Builders Association and directed his decisions later in life with where to live and how to vacation. Bob began playing sports at a young age. He played baseball, handball, and football. He loved sports and believed that they developed determination and character in his life and he shared that with his family. Bob married Olivia Grossi in 1965. They had two beautiful daughters: Lauren and Diana. In 1978, he met and married Anita Trawczynski. Together they raised Anita’s son Brian Kaulig and Bob’s two daughters. They created many memories of love and adventure. They traveled to Mexico, had surprise boating trips, went to Disneyworld, visited the Mississippi and had countless other excursions as a family. Bob imparted love and guidance to his children over the years that will never be forgotten. Anita and Bob found a love of Jesus Christ together and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many leadership positions in the church including Bishoprics, High Councils, and other positions. He found and helped purchase the land for the Chicago LDS Temple under the direction of President Spencer W. Kimball. One of the highlights of his life was being called as the first Young Singles Branch President in Chicago. Through the church, he created life-long friendships. Bob had a gift for making friends with all who met him. He was the king of pranks! His family moved to Buena Vista, Colorado. Here, he developed his love of horses and became as he called it a, “pretend cowboy”. He always loved nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He later moved to Prescott, Arizona. He enjoyed many happy years in Colorado and Arizona. These were very special times for his children and especially his seven grandchildren for fun filled cousin camps. After Anita’s death, he met and married Susan Indo in 2014. This was a great blessing in their lives. They moved to their present home in Leeds, Utah. Bob and Susan traveled extensively, reveled in the beauty of their own back yard, and were blessed with 11 beautiful years together. They served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Kona, Hawaii in 2017. The gospel of Jesus Christ was an integral part of their marriage and helped them to grow together as a couple. He also created beautiful memories with his 4 step children and 5 step grandchildren during his continued annual tradition of cousin camps. Robert is preceded in death by his wife Anita Trawczynski, Father, Rudolph James Verbic, his Mother, Anne Marie Verbic, and brother Nicholas Verbic. He is survived by his loving wife Susan Verbic, Lauren Wood (Daughter), Diana Verbic (Daughter), Brian Kaulig (Stepson) his 7 grandchildren: Cole Verbic, Samantha and Jake Riding, Wyatt, Hunter, Isabelle, and Lia Wood, and 3 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Robert Verbic’s life will held on April 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Leeds Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints building at 75 N Main St. in Leeds, Utah.
