Harold Lamar Day

Harold Lamar Day (Lamar), 46, passed away on December 14, 2020. Lamar was born on May 7, 1974 to Karen Ann Stephens (deceased) and Harold Lamonte Day (deceased) in Ogden Utah. He moved around a lot when he was younger with his mom and then in 7th grade moved in with his grandparents, Lowell and Luain Stephens. Lamar’s grandpa and uncle Allen Stephens loved horses and the outdoors and Lamar inherited that love from them. He had such great memories of riding horses back into the Uinta mountains and fishing and hunting with them. Up in the mountains where it’s cold and clear and the only sound you can hear is the wind in the pine trees was Lamar’s favorite place to be. He loved horses and learned how to shoe his own horse and would help his uncle take care of the horses he kept in the hollow behind his house. Lamar also loved trucks and never drove a car his whole life. He had enough old trucks growing up that he learned to fix almost any problem he could find. Lamar started working at a cabinet shop when he was 16 and that is where he gained his lifelong love of woodworking. Anyone who knew him or worked with him knew of his great talent and skill designing and building cabinets. In 2005 he opened Black Creek Cabinets and provided many homes in St George with beautiful cabinets. The greatest love of his life was his family. He married Taryn Christine McAllister on June 3, 1996 and together they had 4 children; Madison Nikole, 24, Logan Lamar, 18, Landon Gene, 16, and Lincoln Wyatt, 11. They were sealed together as a family on August 22, 2014 and are so grateful that families are forever. Lamar loved taking his family 4-wheeling, camping, and boating. He coached all of his boys’ sports teams at one time or another and never missed a choir or dance performance of Maddie’s. His family will miss him immensely. Like everyone, Lamar had struggles throughout his life, but his struggles were intensified after he took a bad fall and suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2015. The last five years were so hard on him and those he loved but his family takes comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace and whole and healthy once more. He will be missed more than words can describe. He is survived by the love of his life, Taryn, their four children, his Grandma Luain Stephens, and siblings Shae Sheridan and Jake Mortensen. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandpa Lowell Stephens. We love you Lamar. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 19th at 12:00 PM at the LDS chapel on 750 Fort Pierce Dr., St. George, UT 84790.
