Janice McArthur Hepworth

Hurricane, Utah – Janice McArthur Hepworth, 82, passed away on January 13, 2026, surrounded by her children. Janice was born May 28, 1943, to Eldon and Denise McArthur. Janice married and was sealed to Bruce Dwain Hepworth in the St. George Temple on June 9, 1967. Janice spent her childhood and youth in St. George, Utah. She graduated at the top of her class from Dixie High School and later from Dixie College, even outperforming her brother and his friends in a notoriously difficult chemistry class. She continued to excel academically and was named valedictorian at Brigham Young University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and became a home economics teacher. Janice began her teaching career in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. While she loved traveling and spending time with her girlfriends, she did not love the cold. After one year, she moved to Las Vegas, where she continued teaching and quickly became adored by her students—so much so that even the toughest boys wanted to be in her classes. On a blind date, Janice was introduced to the love of her life, Bruce Dwain Hepworth. They were married on June 9, 1967. Janice shared her love of life with her church, her town, and her community. She magnified her callings in the truest sense of the word, serving in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and living as a true disciple of Christ. She humbly shared her artistic talents, her delicious cooking, her beautiful poetry, and—most of all—her genuine love for everyone. Her greatest calling, and the one she cherished most, was that of mother. She raised twelve children with extraordinary love, patience, and kindness. Somehow, she made each child feel deeply special and truly loved. Like a real-life Wonder Woman, she devoted herself to them, helping each one believe they could become anything they dreamed. Janice was a remarkable woman—strong, beautiful, and full of grace—who embodied the characteristics of our Savior. Knowing her was both an honor and a privilege. She leaves behind a lasting example, a blueprint for how to live with compassion, strength, and integrity. We are better for having known her. Janice is survived by her children: Desiree (Juan) of St. George, Utah; Abe Hepworth (Rachel) of Hurricane, Utah; York Hepworth (Michelle) of Washington, Utah; Ronya Cox (Kurt) of Mesquite, Nevada; Gina Richardson (Ethan) of Hurricane, Utah; Michon Roberts (Thomas) of La Jara, Colorado; Jed Hepworth (Jordan) of Hurricane, Utah; Kim McCarroll (Bradley) of La Jara, Colorado; Tami Stewart (James) of Hurricane, Utah; Angie Allen (Travis) of Mesquite, Nevada; and Luke Hepworth (Heather) of Hurricane, Utah; 33 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings Durant McArthur, Dan McArthur, Sam McArthur, Marianne Barton, Kim Dunn, and Joe McArthur; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Denise McArthur; her husband, Bruce Dwain Hepworth; her son, Page McArthur Hepworth; and her sister, Allene McArthur Price. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, friends, and family members who loved and supported Janice throughout her life. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at the Hurricane LDS North Stake Center, 272 South 700 West, Hurricane, Utah. Interment will be held at Hurricane City Cemetery.
