A Consistent Place of Healing

cremation and utah law

If you would like to be cremated, simply telling your family members or friends that you wish to be cremated is not enough.  Utah law requires a person to provide written directions, or “advance directions.”

These directions include designating a funeral service establishment, providing directions for cremation arrangements, providing your signature (as well as the signature of two unrelated witnesses), and providing funds to carry out the directions.

If advance directions are not designated ahead of time, the legal next-of-kin has the authority and responsibility to make any and all decisions at the time of death.

You can simplify this entire process by completing your own Cremation Authorization Form.
