Proud to Honor Those Who have Served
Veterans are entitled to burial benefits at the time of their death. Below please find a list of basic benefits. The following, however, is not a comprehensive list. For full eligibility requirements and benefits, please visit www.va.gov.
Eligibility:
Current members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible for Veterans burial benefits
Veterans who were discharged under honorable conditions (including retired or medical) are eligible for burial benefits
Veterans’ spouses, their minor children, and (in some cases) unmarried adult dependent children are eligible for most burial benefits
Veterans burial benefits include:
A gravesite for traditional burial or a niche space for those choosing cremation in any of the 156 national cemeteries
Opening and closing of the grave
Perpetual care
VA headstone/grave marker
United States of America Flag
- Presidential Memorial Certificate
An honor guard consisting of service members (retired or active duty) that fold and present the flag, play taps, and occasionally perform a gun salute. These benefits apply to traditional casket burials as well as cremation burials.
Veterans burial benefits usually do NOT include:
Funeral home/mortuary expenses. It is the family’s responsibility to pay for any and all funeral home-incurred expenses, such as professional service fees, transportation, caskets, death certificates, obituaries, flowers, etc.
A gravesite at a private or city cemetery. Expenses include fees for the gravesite, opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, and a vault
Private headstone
Veterans are our nation's heroes and are deserving of special attention. We are proud to honor those who have served.
